Toledo Academy of Pharmac
Hello,
My name is Marisa Sochacki, and I was recently elected
to serve as the TAP representative for the University
of
Toledo Chapter of APhA-ASP. I am currently
in the PharmD program, on track to graduate in 2010
with a BSPS, and
then in 2012 with my doctorate. I
have attached my CV which will serve as a brief introduction
until I can personally
introduce myself at the start of the
new academic
year.
I
am honored to hold this
position, and look forward to
playing a substantial role in
maintaining a healthy relationship between TAP and
the University
of Toledo’s APhA-ASP
chapter. Following last year’s
national recognitions and honorary
improvements,
I believe that APhA-ASP
is on a path of continued growth
and improvements. As TAP
representative, I plan to provide
TAP with insights into all the
APhA-ASP will accomplish
this year.
Thank you,
Marisa Sochacki

Opportunity
for Membership
to Participate in Pharmacy Book
|
Dear Toledo Academy of Pharmacy,
My name is Joanna Maudlin Pangilinan and I (along from my colleague
J.
Aubrey Waddell from Univerisity of Tennessee) am collecting
stories for
compilation into a book being published by APhA. (and I'm your
neighbor-
living in Saline MI!)
We
are collecting all types of stories
from all types of pharmacy practice.
Any type of story is welcome- funny, sad,
inovative, perspectives, etc. A
call for submissions (including a story
based on my own experience) was
published as a Letter to the Editor in
the December 2008 issue of Pharmacy
Today. Here is the link for more information.
http://apha.imirus.com/Mpowered/imirusApp.jsp?volume=pt14&issue=12&page=1
Also, I have attached a similar call for submissions to
this email.
Would it be possible to convey this invitation to your membership?
I know
everyone has important stories to tell. And I'm proud
to be part of a
project conveying our important work.
Thank you for your kind consideration!

The
Mentoring Collaborative is a student driven initiative created
from a master thesis project and has become a pilot mentoring
program for more than 30 undergraduate students at The University
of Toledo.
|
|
| |
|
Interactions
with a committed mentor are critical to the success of our
students. For some of these young people, you may be the
first positive role model they have encountered in their
entire lives. Our community and our youth need your contribution.
We invite you to complement our efforts with your gifts of
time and talent.
|
| |
Several
dedicated individuals at The University of Toledo (UT ) have
gathered to create The Mentoring Collaborative. It is our
goal to assist and uplift our students and we ask that you
participate by becoming a mentor who can provide guidance
and motivation to a member of this unique program.
|
| |
In
the spirit of student centeredness, this conglomerate of
campus-wide factions focuses on increasing retention for
minority and at risk student populations by representing
diversity and inclusion across all boundaries to create unity
and advancement in our student body.
|
| |
With
the use of workshops, mentor guidance, and a website of campus
and community resources, The Mentoring Collaborative has
established a solid foundation on which to build a long lasting
UT tradition of reaching back to help those who come along
behind us.
|
| |
Many
of us have achieved greatness by standing on the shoulders
and becoming benefactors of those who have come before us.
Please join us in continuing this legacy.

Reach
me to learn more about the ways that mentoring makes a difference
in the lives of UT students who are involved in this program.
Mentors who give the gift of their wisdom and their time
to those who are following in their footsteps are cherished
and treasured by this organization.

Dear Toledo Academy of Pharmacy members,
APhA-ASP would like to extend
to you the opportunity to be a pharmacist mentor
to ASP student members at the University of Toledo.
Participating in this mentoring program will not
require much time or effort, as we know that pharmacists
have very busy schedules. If you would like to participate
in this program, please forward your email address
to justin.brown5@utoledo.edu along
with a short synopsis of your area of pharmacy practice
and a short description of what your typical workday
entails. Any other pertinent information that you
would like to share with the pharmacy students can
also be included. This description only has to be
a couple of paragraphs in length. These job descriptions
will be distributed to any interested ASP members,
along with your contact information (email address).
If the students have any further questions about
your area of pharmacy practice, they will then be
able to send you an email to receive more detailed
information. APhA-ASP hopes that this mentoring program
will help foster positive relationships between pharmacists
and pharmacy students and assist in guiding interested
students into the area of pharmacy that will best
allow them to further the profession and improve
patient care. Thanks for your time!
Sincerely
yours,
Justin Brown
